June Newsletter

Hi Everyone.

Thanks to all of you that attended the meeting at Cubley. A big welcome to Lynda and Roy Cattlin, who have just joined us, they had a lot of interesting ideas and a lot of enthusiasm. We would also like to welcome Ann and Peter who came to the Sunday run on the 8th June (I hope I have got your names right but my apologies if not)
One of the things brought up at the meeting was the petrol situation, it got a mixed response so I think you must all decide what is best for you. The people attending the Sunday runs will decide between them how far and where they would like to go.
We will be going to France in 2009 for a week to ten days. If you are interested in this trip please let Jill know. We will be having a planning meeting before the end of August to decide on when and where etc.
The weekend trip to Bruges in October will still take place the cost of the ferry the meals on board and the extra night in Bruges will make this about £250 per couple not including any food off the boat the closing date for this trip will be Sunday the 10th August. We are going to block book this. Please let Jill know if you would like to book your place.
The National Rally Belvoir Castle 7th September. What are your thoughts on this do we go for the weekend and take advantage of the Saturday and Sunday events or just go for the day please let us know your thoughts as hotels or B&B will have to be booked.
A few of the other things we discussed were. The Christmas lights and Christmas meal, a week in Ireland Spring 2010 to take in the Spring Rally, Greyhound walking with Lynda and Roy complete with breakfast and Ian has volunteered to take an evening run to Matlock in September to see the lights. Burton was press ganged into organising the Rotherham Show and also helping Bill with the organization of track days.

May was another busy month with some nice Sunday runs and of course it ended with our lovely run to Scotland. Everybody enjoyed their holiday the weather was lovely, the cars performed very well on the great roads and the scenery was incredible.

20th -22 June Wetton camping weekend please see details on the forum or contact Jill if you are unsure about anything. If you don’t fancy camping you could go on the run on Saturday or Sunday or both if you feel like it. The normal Sunday run will be meeting up with them as well.

23rd June Monday. Hope Classic Car Show at the Travellers Rest Pub at Brough. We will be meeting at 6.30 in the lay-by just through Hathersage so we can go in convoy, we will then all park together in the place that they have set aside for us.

29th June Serpentine Charity Rally organised by the Lotus Club. We will be meeting in Ashford –in-the-Water at 8.15 am, or you can meet us in Buxton. The rally starts at 9.00am from Buxton. This is really a nice day out 100 miles around Derbyshire.

6th July Ian and Emily’s picnic run to Rutland Water meeting at The Treble Bob Pub/McDonalds at Barlborough on the Sykes Lane Park at 9.30
